Scoliosis and Spine Institute Doctors

PHYSICIAN REFERRAL

At the Southwest Scoliosis and Spine Institute, a physician referral is given the highest priority as we are proud to offer advanced treatment and compassionate individualized care for these very special patients.  In short, we accomplish success by our board-certified, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Spine Doctors, nurses, and care coordinators — specializing in Scoliosis and complex spinal issues.

Most importantly, please take the time to get to know our physicians and staff prior to your referral and feel free to share our information with perspective patients who may need scoliosis or advanced spine treatment.

Physician Referral

Refer a Patient FormOur board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons, Richard Hostin, MD, Devesh Ramnath, MD, Ishaq Syed, MD, Shyam Kishan, MD, and Kathryn Wiesman, MD, have treated over 100,000 patients and performed more than 16,000 surgeries. The surgeries include scoliosis and some of the most complex spinal issues and revision surgeries.

If you have patients who are suffering from the pain of scoliosis or need revision surgeries, you can trust the doctors and clinicians at the Southwest Scoliosis and Spine Institute to give your patients the time, attention, treatment, and care they need to get back to a more normal life.

We understand that as a physician referral, your patient’s well-being is your first concern.

By offering our Spine Expertise, you can be assured that your patient will get the very best of care. For instance, we will spend the necessary time that it takes to examine and review your patient’s testing and discuss your patient’s symptoms and diagnosis with you in order to devise a course of action for your patient. Finally, the doctors, nurses, and staff understand that there are physical and emotional issues that factor into the best solution. With years and years of treating spine problems and being aware of the latest spinal treatments, we will find the very best solution for your patient,  Also, we will keep you informed as to the decision to help stop your patient’s pain and/or symptoms.

If surgery is the most effective treatment option, we will fully explain the procedure and address any patient concerns. Then, we map out the surgical process, including any rehab to include a timeline for recovery. Naturally, we will talk with you, their doctor, before and after any surgery. Therefore, our goal for both you and your patient is to completely share why surgery is needed.  Also, we will explain how the surgery will happen, and what the expected results will look like.

Similarly Leading the way in Scoliosis Research.

Because of our quest for finding new and better spinal deformity treatments, we actively conduct research.  In view of this, Richard Hostin, MD, Shyam Kishan, MD, Devesh Ramnath, MD, Ishaq Syed, MD, and Kathryn Wiesman, MD conduct studies regarding spinal disorders. In addition, our doctors are members of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) and the following groups.  As such, our doctors conduct research and publish studies on a regular basis.

  • POSNA – Pediatric Orthopaedic Association of North America
  • AAOS – American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons
  • NSF – National Science Foundation

Over the past five years, Scoliosis treatment technology has changed very rapidly.  And now, there are many ways to treat patients,” says Dr. Hostin. “I lecture to groups around the country – pediatricians, primary care doctors, internists to try to keep them updated on the latest advances in scoliosis treatment.  Meanwhile, the reality is that in the 21st century, we can very effectively treat scoliosis in adults.”
