DOCTOR HOSTIN’S BIOGRAPHY VIDEO TRANSCRIPT

My name is Richard Hostin.  I am the medical Director of the Southwest Scoliosis and Spine Institute.

I’ve been in practice in the Dallas area coming up on 20 years.  My practice has always focused on complex pediatric and adult spinal deformity and complex revision surgeries.

I became interested in spine deformity relatively young because I have a family history of spine disorders in my own family. The current team we have at Southwest Scoliosis and Spine Institute is just a fantastic group of people.  Our goal in setting up the practice is to have an environment where I or my family would want to come as a patient.

So we really strive to provide a patient centered experience. But a lot of these conditions can be very stressful for either pediatric patients, their families, or adults, and it’s nice to come somewhere where this is really what we do.

In general, my approaches:

I don’t want there to be any surprises for my patients. So I want patients to know everything about what’s gonna happen to them. What it’s gonna be like to recover. What they can expect, and the way we can do that is spend a lot of time talking to them. And have other patients who had this experience talk to them.

We can look up age and curve type in the database. A lot of my patients have signed releases, and they’re happy to talk to folks.

One of the rewarding things about treating spine deformity and complex scoliosis is that you really make a huge impact on a patient’s quality of life. If you are struggling with chronic neck and back pain, disabilities, or spine deformity, please give us a call here.  We have multiple locations in Dallas, Plano, and Frisco, and we would be happy to see you for an evaluation.
